Information We Collect
Lookify collects certain information to provide and improve our hairstyle transformation service. This includes:
- Photos and images you upload for hairstyle processing
- Device information and usage data
- App performance and crash reports — see Crash & Performance Reports
- Optional account information you provide
- Purchase and subscription records, such as which plan or credit pack was bought, its price and the transaction identifier
- Device and advertising identifiers, including the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), but only if you allow tracking when asked — see Advertising & Attribution
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to operate and provide the app’s features, and to measure our own advertising:
- Performing user-requested visual transformations such as hair, makeup, beard, and clothing modifications
- Providing face shape, color, and approximate age range analysis
- Operating, maintaining, and securing app functionality
- Providing customer support and responding to inquiries
- Monitoring app performance and stability using non-face, non-identifying data
- Processing purchases and keeping your subscription and credits in sync across sessions
- Understanding which of our advertisements led people to install Lookify, so we can stop paying for the ones that do not work — see Advertising & Attribution
Face Data & Image Processing
The app processes user-uploaded photos that may contain a human face. From these images, the app derives non-identifying visual attributes required to perform requested visual transformations and analyses.
This may include facial feature positioning, face shape categorization, hair and facial area segmentation, skin tone characteristics, and approximate age range estimation.
The app does not collect or store biometric identifiers, facial recognition templates, faceprints, or any data used to uniquely identify a person.
Face data is used exclusively to provide features explicitly requested by the user within the app. Planned uses of face data include:
- Applying hairstyle and hair color modifications
- Adding makeup and cosmetic styling
- Modifying beard and facial hair appearance
- Visualizing clothing and outfit changes
- Analyzing face shape to generate styling suggestions
- Analyzing skin tone and color characteristics
- Estimating an approximate age range for informational purposes
Face data is not used for identity verification, authentication, facial recognition, behavioral tracking, advertising, profiling, analytics, or machine learning model training.
Face data is not shared with third parties for marketing, advertising, profiling, or analytics purposes.
The app uses third-party cloud-based AI services solely as data processors to perform user-requested image processing operations. These services do not retain, reuse, or repurpose face data for any purpose, including model training.
Face data is processed temporarily and is not stored in a persistent database. All processing is performed over encrypted connections, and any temporary data is deleted immediately after the requested operation is completed.
Face data is retained only for the duration necessary to complete the user-requested operation. Uploaded images and any derived face-related data are deleted immediately after the visual processing or analysis is completed.
Lookify does not store face data in a persistent database and does not retain face data after processing.
Data Storage and Security
All data is transmitted using encrypted connections. User-submitted images and face data are processed temporarily for the purpose of completing requested operations and are not stored in a persistent database.
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data during processing and to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or misuse.
Crash & Performance Reports
When the app crashes or freezes, it sends a crash report to Sentry, our crash-monitoring provider, so we can find and fix the problem. A small share of app sessions also send performance measurements, such as how long a screen took to load.
A report contains the technical shape of the problem: which part of the app’s code failed, whether the app was frozen, your device model, operating system version and app version, and basic technical details of the request, such as your IP address.
Your photos, your face data and your messages are never part of a report. The app is set up so that no screenshots, screen recordings, uploaded images, image links, stylist chat messages or other content you create are attached. Reports are not linked to your identity and are not used for advertising or tracking.
Sentry processes these reports in its European Union data region, only on our instructions. Its handling of data is described in its Privacy Policy.
Advertising & Attribution
Lookify shows no advertisements inside the app, and we never sell your data. We do advertise Lookify itself on Meta’s platforms (Facebook and Instagram), and we measure whether those advertisements actually work.
To do that, the app includes the Meta SDK and our payment provider RevenueCat forwards purchase events to Meta. The information shared for this purpose is:
- A device advertising identifier (IDFA) and a Meta-generated anonymous device identifier
- The vendor identifier for your device (IDFV) and your anonymous in-app account identifier
- Purchase events — which product was bought, its price and currency, and a transaction identifier
- Basic technical details of the request, such as your IP address, app version and operating system version
Your photos and your face data are never part of this. Nothing from the Face Data section above is shared with Meta or with any other advertising partner, for any purpose.
Unlike the services listed below, Meta does not act only on our instructions: it combines this information with data it already holds in order to attribute and measure advertising. This is what Apple calls tracking, which is why the app asks for your permission before it happens.
You are asked first, and you can change your mind. On first launch, iOS shows you the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, no advertising identifier is collected for you and none is shared. You can review or reverse your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or turn off tracking requests for every app from the same screen.
Meta’s own handling of this data is governed by its Privacy Policy. We also use Apple’s own advertising attribution (AdServices and SKAdNetwork), which is privacy-preserving by design, needs no permission, and works whatever you answer to the prompt above.
Third-Party Services
Lookify relies on the following third-party services:
- AI-based image processing services (OpenAI, fal.ai) used exclusively for visual transformations and analyses
- Cloud infrastructure and temporary processing (Firebase)
- Crash and performance monitoring (Sentry, EU data region) — see Crash & Performance Reports
- Subscription and purchase management (RevenueCat)
- Advertising attribution and measurement (Meta) — see Advertising & Attribution
- Customer support communications
With the exception of Meta, described above, these services act strictly as data processors: they handle data only on our instructions and for the purposes we set. None of them — Meta included — receives user-submitted images or face data, and none of them retains, reuses, stores or trains models on it.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request deletion of your data
- Opt out of data collection where possible
- Refuse or withdraw consent to tracking at any time, in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, without losing any app feature
- Export your data in a portable format
